An interview with me regarding the results of the 2016 U.S. presidential election was published in the local newspaper, The Hokkaido Shimbun (北海道新聞), which is nicknamed the Doshin (道新). I voted in the election from Japan by sending in an absentee ballot to my state of residence, which happens to be California.
An estimated 46.9% of eligible voters did not vote in the election. Reflecting on the close results and the high number of voters who did not cast votes, I really hope that in the future more voters will participate in the election process, both in the U.S. and here in Japan.
